Toronto Real Estate Communities

Popular Toronto Neighbourhoods:

There are more than 240 neighbourhoods in Toronto's real estate community. We've highlighted a few of the most popular neighbourhoods below.

Annex - Located just north of Bloor Street and the University of Toronto's downtown campus, this neighbourhood has student housing, condos and the unique 'Annex homes:' older, brick row houses with peaked roofs.

Beaches - Long expanses of lakeside beach and boardwalks give this community a relaxed, resort feel.  There are cottages, Victorian and Edwardian-era heritage homes and some newer condos.

Cabbagetown - This neighbourhood got its name from struggling Irish immigrants who supposedly planted cabbage in their yards.  Housing includes updated Victorian-era homes with professionals who value the short commute to downtown

North York - Just north of central Toronto, this larger neighbourhood of more than 625,000 people has all housing types including high-rises, townhouses, row houses and single-family homes.

Rexdale - In the northwest corner of Toronto, within the larger neighbourhood of Etobicoke, which amalgamated with Toronto in 1998, Rexdale offers affordable, single-family homes and some condos.

Rosedale - This is one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in Canada.  Although close to downtown, the area has many parks and a road system that discourages pass-through traffic.  Housing in Rosedale is mainly spacious homes on large lots.

Wychwood Park - Homes start at $1 million in this attractive, exclusive community north of Davenport Road and west of Bathurst Street.

Toronto Suburbs:

Richmond Hill - This affluent community of more than 180,000 offers numerous, attractive condo towers as well as upscale single-family homes.

Vaughan - Near Canada's Wonderland, York University and Vaughan Mills mall, this ethnically diverse neighbourhood offers a range of housing options from condo towers to affordable suburban houses.
