Bike Rally 2009, Toronto to Montreal

2009. The goal of the event was to raise funds for the

Friends for Life Bike Rally which supports the Toronto

People With AIDS Foundation. The evening had

everything from dancers, to bands, to burlesque

troops. Richard even performed in a play he wrote for

journey of a bicycle on the 600 kilometre ride, depicting the emotional highs and

lows of exhaustion.

Richard wanted to make the evening accessible and enjoyable for everyone by

offering complimentary admission. As a result, 140 guests attended and he was able

to raise over $2500 in donations. Generous contributions from Giraffe Multimedia,

Southern Accent Restaurant and the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre added to the

success of the evening.

journey started in Toronto and will end in Montreal, 600 kilometres later. Riders

came together with their donations and help to raise awareness for the foundation

that provides services geared to women, men and children living with AIDS.

Richard has participated in this ride for the past two years now and describes,

“Completing this ride is so inspiring and it allows me to put everything in

perspective.” Richard has always been involved in the community; whether it be

volunteering with MS Society of Canada or performing for the elderly. However,

Richard is most satisfied with his efforts for this fundraising event. “It has given me

the opportunity to challenge myself both mentally and physically,” he explains.
