9 Upgrades to improve an Older Home

1.Copper Pipes

Copper pipes are a huge improvement over galvanised pipes, which corrode & are difficult to insure.

2.Electrical

Older homes do not have enough electrical "oomph" to run all the gadgets in a modern home, upgrade to at least 100amp or better still 200amp.

3.Furnaces

Furnaces usually last from 12-15 years, so bite the bullet and replace with an high efficiecy one. There are good Government saving schemes available.

4.Kitchen Cabinets

Refurbish old kitchen cabinets either by refinishing if solid wood or painting if not.Replace dated handles with stainless steel or nickel ones.

5.Roof

Shrewed buyers' always ask the age of the roof - so have your roof inspected every 10 years. If it makes the grade, include the inspection in the seller package.

6.Siding

Dated siding can be fatal in your homes curb appeal. Sometimes all you need is a fresh coat of paint, professionally applied. If it's really bad , have it replaced.

7.Water Heater

Water Heaters only last 10-12 years. If it's a rental have it replaced with a larger one, normally free of charge.

8,Windows

Single pane windows have gone the way of the shag rug & lava lamps- so upgrade, not only will your home look more attractive, but also could trim the heating bill by up to 25%

9,Carpets

If your carpets are less than 10 years old  have them professionally cleaned. If older think of having them replaced.

GOOD LUCK IN SELLING YOUR NEW LOOK HOME! (Remember to consult a Realtor when you are ready to sell, they have the expertise you need)
