What is Buyer Agency?

In 1993 Buyer Agency was introduced in Ontario. Prior to this both the seller's agent and the buyer's agent worked for the seller. So buyer's can now have their very own agent and in almost every case the seller pays the commission.

What are the benifits to the buyer? These are guidelines called Standards of Care and are what the buyer's agent owes to the buyer and are as follows:

1.Total commitment to the Buyer

2.Maximum effort on their behalf

3.Exposure to the entire market

4.Confidentiality

5.Disclosure of anything that may affect a buyer's decision

6.Successful and experienced negotiator

7.Privacy for the Buyer

8.Strongest possible protection of the Buyer's interest

9.Mortgage finance assistance

10.Buyer's will save money since the Buyer's agent will be negotiating to protect their interest
