How do we get to where we are in life? For some people, I suppose, it's a direct, well-planned path. But for others........in the early 90's, I was doing graduate work at U.of T., following undergrad at Queen's, when I met my wife (of course, she wasn't that, back then). But, as these things happen, we married, then bought our first house. Well, I enjoyed the whole process so much (the house buying, that is...... though marriage is fun, too!) that after graduating from U.ofT., I studied some more and obtained my Licence as a Real Estate Sales Representative. Over the next eight years, I worked first with a small independent Brokerage in downtown Toronto, then spent a couple of years with Re/max. But, in 1998, I found and joined a great Canadian company, Sutton Group, where I've been happiest. It just suits me best. During the years in Toronto, I worked with a variety of buyers and sellers, and also with several "infill" builders and renovators. Along the way, my wife and I purchased and renovated a couple of Century homes. Then, a couple of years ago, we found we were expecting our first child, so we decided to move out of the city, and into a brand new home in Whitby Shores, with square rooms (more or less) and good insulation (more or less) and a solid, dry basement (yep....more or less). And with the birth of our first son, and just now our second, I took some time at reduced work hours to spend with family, dealt with my Toronto clientele, upgraded my Real Estate education and license to Real Estate Broker, and have now moved my full-time practice to Durham, with Sutton Group-Classic Realty Inc, out of Whitby. I like working in Real Estate, seeing the variety of home styles, and I particularly enjoy the aspect of Home Design and Decor, and Preparation for Market (I also enjoy watching HGTV--but who doesn't?). My clients have said that I bring a somewhat different approach to Real Estate. That would make sense--I see it differently. Cheers, Barry
